the daily commute

I should be working, instead, I'm procrastinating. I realised I hadn't posted anything to my collection in a while. These are some shots taken of the daily commute, plus a few of the sites taken in between work and home by foot. And a funny encounter with a bride using the public toilets at Town Hall station in her flowing white wedding dress. I guess when you've gotta go, you've gotta go!

dead leaves and the dirty ground

A few hours spent in the Southern Highlands on Sunday gave me the chance to walk among trees shedding their leaves for the change of season. We don't really experience Autumn properly in metropolitan Sydney, a city of primarily evergreen trees and gardens, so the colours and chill in the air was a welcome change.

dear companion

Long time, no blog! It's been a busy month and I haven't added any photos for a while and time seems to be disappearing faster than it ever has. Not that that should be an excuse.

The following are some photos taken at Newtown's 'The Vanguard' last Thursday night while seeing Ben Sollee play the last leg of his Australian tour. He labels himself a 'Cellist, Singer, Cyclist, Dad & Human'. That's a pretty modest description for a man who kept Luke and myself plus another 50 or so people absolutely enthralled as he bowed, plucked and strummed a $200 ebay purchased cello like it was a giant guitar as he sang original tunes which were equally as mesmerising.

architecturally ornate

This is a series of photos shot in the interiors of the State and Enmore theatres in Sydney over the last few weeks while seeing some shows. Two venues with some of the finest examples of art deco and gothic/art deco architecture in Sydney. I love these theatres.

across the ditch

Experimenting with the Hipstamatic app was a feature of my summer break. The following are some snapshots of my time in NZ soaking up the sites, food, architecture, people and places but sadly not the sun. They didn't call it 'The Land of the Long White Cloud' for nothing!
